Public access and freedom of Information

The Council holds various records as required under the Information Act 2002, the Local Government Act 2019, and other relevant legislation. Wherever possible, we make information publicly accessible through:

Making a formal information request

Under Section 18 of the Information Act 2002, individuals and organisations can lodge a formal application to access information held by the Council. Applications must:

Be submitted in writing

Provide sufficient detail to identify the requested information (scope)

Include a postal or email address for correspondence

Be accompanied by valid identification

A fee may apply for non-personal information requests. Requests for personal information do not incur a fee.



Individuals can also request access to their personal information for the purpose of correcting records.
