Transparent, Accountable Governance for the Groote Archipelago

The Groote Archipelago Regional Council is committed to open and transparent local government. Regular meetings are held to discuss key issues, make decisions, and ensure that council operations reflect the needs and aspirations of the community. Meeting agendas and minutes are made publicly available in accordance with legislative requirements.

Ordinary Council meetings

Ordinary Council Meetings are held every two months and are open to the public. These meetings provide a formal platform for discussing council business, reviewing progress, and making strategic decisions.

Local government legislation requires that council has Finance Committee meetings on the months that it does not hold an Ordinary Council Meeting.

Special council meetings

From time to time, the Council may call a Special Meeting to address a specific issue or urgent matter. The purpose of the meeting will be clearly stated in the official Notice of Meeting, which will be made publicly available prior to the meeting date.

Accessing Council Documents

Agendas are published at least three (3) business days before each Ordinary Meeting and are available for public review.

Minutes are published  within 10 business days of a meeting and remain available on the Council’s website.

Minutes marked as ‘unconfirmed’ are official records of the meeting, pending confirmation at the next council meeting. These documents are still accessible to the public.
